- This mashbill is based on George Washington's mashbill, but is not a direct duplicate. Washington's original recipe was 60% Rye, 35% Corn, 5% Malted Barley, which was discovered by examining whiskey ledgers from 1798 and 1799. We created a variation to mellow out the spice of the original recipe by reducing the rye and corn, and adding in wheat.
