# CaskGrail CaskGrail is a register of American whiskey label filings. Every whiskey sold in the United States needs a federally approved label (a TTB Certificate of Label Approval) before it ships; those approvals are public record and appear weeks to months before the bottle reaches a shelf. CaskGrail reads the TTB registry daily, reads the label images, and publishes what each label says: age, proof, class, who distilled it and where, and who chose the barrel. ## Key pages - https://caskgrail.com/ : this week's filings, the ledger - https://caskgrail.com/filings : every filing on file, filterable by type, age, proof, distilled-in state - https://caskgrail.com/spirit/{ttb_id} : one filing, its label, and the facts the label states - https://caskgrail.com/sources : who distilled what, as labels say it, by state and by named distiller - https://caskgrail.com/distilled-in/{state} : filings whose labels state distillation in that state - https://caskgrail.com/states : every state twice: by the label's state of distillation and by the filing house's address - https://caskgrail.com/brands and /brands/{slug} : a brand's filings, as filed - https://caskgrail.com/distilleries and /distilleries/{id} : a plant's filings under its permit, the labels that name it as distiller, and its public identity (website, founding, owner) with sources - https://caskgrail.com/types and /types/{node} : the standard-of-identity taxonomy (27 CFR Part 5), each type's filings - https://caskgrail.com/finishes and /finishes/{slug} : every finish cask a label names, as printed, each with the labels that name it - https://caskgrail.com/mash-bills and /mash-bills/{slug} : mash bills printed as percentages, grouped where the recipe is the same - https://caskgrail.com/irish : the Irish room, Irish whiskey labels filed for the US market (the applicant is the importer) - https://caskgrail.com/search?q= : deterministic search over brands, plants, types, selectors, weeks, TTB IDs - https://caskgrail.com/picks : single barrels a label says a store, bar, class or person chose - https://caskgrail.com/filings/week/{iso-week} : the permanent weekly ledger - https://caskgrail.com/methodology : how the data is read and what each field means - https://caskgrail.com/newsletter : the Rickhouse Report, the whole week's approvals by email every Monday - https://caskgrail.com/contact : corrections@, trade@, press@, privacy@ and hello@ caskgrail.com - https://caskgrail.com/data-license : what may be reused and how to cite it ## Facts - Source: the TTB Public COLA Registry (ttbonline.gov). Every filing page links to its registry record by TTB ID. - A filing predates a release, typically by weeks; a filing is not an announcement and not a release date. - Label facts are as printed. "Not stated" means the label carries no such statement. "Not read" means no reading exists yet. - No distiller is inferred from a state, a brand, or a barrel number. "Distilled in Indiana" is reported as exactly that. - CaskGrail never shows, links, or estimates secondary-market prices. - Canonical filing URL: /spirit/{ttb_id}. Cite as "CaskGrail, from TTB COLA {ttb_id}, approved {date}". - Crawl policy: search and citation crawlers are welcome; training crawlers (GPTBot, Google-Extended) are not. See /robots.txt. ## Feed - https://caskgrail.com/feed.xml — RSS 2.0, the 50 most recent approvals with the label's own facts.
